A new event will “pop-up” in Tuskegee soon and it will launch the pop-up trend in this community. Popular throughout the country, pop-up shops are intentionally short-term with low overhead and are frequently used to test or introduce new products.
Chequita Donner, an enterprising Tuskegee woman, has coordinated the Emmalee Grace Creatives Pop-up Festival for local vendors and consumers. The concept is an epiphany for Ms. Donner, who says, “The idea came to me in a dream I had months ago.”
Knowing she needed to network and connect with like-minded individuals she used her social media skills to identify local people who are marketing their services on digital platforms. Using this strategy she found potential vendors and successfully registered several for the pop-up festival that will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the Tuskegee Square from 12noon until 5:00pm.
She is now hoping a large crowd turns out for this family-friendly experience. Consumers will be able to browse and purchase merchandise and products from the registered vendors, including businesses offering jewelry, clothing, crafts, food and beverages. Also, children will enjoy inflatable entertainment, provided and sponsored by Jump Wright, a family-owned business by Tuskegee residents who are related to Ms. Donner.
